Remittances to India: United Arab Emirates

While one of my posts showed that India was the top receiver of remittances from the world, estimated for 2023, this country was far behind Mexico among the receivers of remittances from the United States in 2021. As most of the top receivers of remittances from the world are also among the top receivers from the United States, one could not expect such an important gap between India and Mexico. India does have other important sources of remittances in addition to the United States. What are these countries that provide remittances to India?

Definition: India is a country located in South Asia, surrounded by the ocean and several other countries such as China, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc. 

The graphic in this post reveals that the United Arab Emirates is the first sender of remittances to India. Saudi Arabia, in the third position, followed the United States, which is the second-largest sender of remittances to India. Oman and Kuwait follow Saudi Arabia. While India receives a large amount of remittances from the United States, a larger amount comes from the United Arab Emirates and other countries in Asia.
